ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, in collaboration with the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA),
Niuland, conducted training cum awareness programme on the Nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign” at Kiyezu B Village under Niuland district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur, apprised the farmers about the objectives,
significance of the ongoing Khet Bachao Abhiyan and importance of soil health. She emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices to safeguard crop health,
improve productivity, and ensure long-term soil fertility.
Ms. E. Lireni Kikon, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Dimapur, shared details on the use of biopesticides in crop protection. She highlighted
the role of eco-friendly pest management approaches in reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and promoting safe food production. Farmers were encouraged to adopt biopesticides as an
integral component of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
Earlier, Mr. Dimalu, Block Technology Manager (BTM), ATMA Niuland, welcomed the participants and stressed the need for greater awareness on
sustainable farming technologies among rural farming communities. The programme witnessed active participation from farmers of the village, who interacted with the resource persons and sought
practical solutions to crop production and plant protection challenges. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and an appeal to farmers to actively support the objectives of the Khet Bachao
Abhiyan for a healthier and more resilient agricultural sector.
